North Side Drive - ‘One’
Jonathon Pearson is a musician/producer from Cork working in the spectrum of neo classical music, “mixing ambient electronics with a string section and piano.” He recorded a performance of ‘The Wolves’ off For Emma, Forever Ago (see below); a minimal arrangement, it’s as sweeping - breath-taking even - as you might expect a classical cover of Bon Iver to be. What’s more striking though is ‘One’, an original composition free-to-download from North Side Drive’s Bandcamp.
‘One’ is powerfully elegiac. A sombre piece, it swells with an implied sadness made acute by rising melancholic keys - only brevity and piercing ambient traces curb an oppressive flood. It’s a stunning and effectual introduction. The debut EP by North Side Drive will be available in July.
